PS3 Firmware 3.66 Available

Sony has released firmware version 3.66. The update, according to a PlayStation Blog post, states that the update is “minor” and improves system and network stability.

Like with any other minor update that adds no other functionality to the system, there is no description in the EULA or anywhere else in the actual download as to what the purpose of the download is. The update is mandatory, in that people cannot log onto the PSN until the firmware is installed.

Analysis: So help me God, if Sony does one thing for the PS Vita and whatever they call their next HD console, please, PLEASE let it be an easier way to add patches or hotfixes. This type of update mechanism is giving me Service Pack 2 for XP flashbacks.
