Gaming Bus Live Stream, Vol. 18: Popful Mail (Sega CD)

Welcome to another edition of the Gaming Bus Live Stream. Last week, we dove into Final Fantasy Mystic Quest and learned two things: 1) It’s enjoyable, but 2) in limited bursts. Though it’s fun to start with, it quickly got boring, as no one—least of all myself—wants to see me screwing around on battlefield maps and fighting random JRPG battles for little good reason. We turned the rest of the time into potpourri night.

This week, it’s important to know that we’re delaying the chat for one night because of some last-minute things that came up for me. But the wait will be worth it for Popful Mail, an adorable action RPG from arguably my favourite publisher ever, Working Designs. Popful Mail was different from other JRPGs we saw in this era in that it was more of a platformer with RPG elements, which was unlike other WD titles like Vay and the Lunar games. For those familiar with classic arcade games, think of it as Cadash with anime. I’ve played it but never got too far, so this week should be fun.

The stream will begin SATURDAY night at 9:30PM EST. Hope to see everyone there!
