Gaming Bus Live Stream, Vol. 19: Super Metroid (SNES)

Welcome to another edition of the Gaming Bus Live Stream. Last week, we played a game that I’ve loved for the longest time in Popful Mail. It’s been a long time since I’ve played it, however, so I had to see if time had been as kind to it as it has for other Working Designs games. I excitedly loaded it up, but then realized a brutal truth: this was one of the cheapest action RPGs I’ve ever played. Cheap hits, blind hits, everything that people regard as “charming” from that bygone era that is instead frustrating and best left in the past, featured here. In short, while it’s charming, it’s a chore to play. I certainly did not expect that.

This week, we’re not screwing around with the B-list titles. We’re going straight for the juggular with an all-time classic: Super Metroid.

Really, do I have to explain more than that? It’s Super Metroid. There’s your lead-in, and quite frankly, it speaks for itself. Though I will express some disappointment in a certain subset of our readers who are saying disturbing things like, “But isn’t the discomfort from playing a game you don’t like half of the entertainment value?” What’s more entertaining than a happy ‘Bus? You guys are masochists. How do you all sleep at night? You make me sad.

See you tonight at 9:30PM!
