Welcome to another edition of the Gaming Bus Live Stream. Last week, I set a record: shortest amount of time I played a game before dropping it, as I dropped Adventure Island: The Beginning within about ten minutes. The camera jumped on simple things, making the game a painful experience in the literal sense. I seriously had a headache, and my viewers didn’t fare much better. So we basically turned it into Fruitcake Night.
This week, it’s the long awaited grudge match between Ed “Blacken” Ropple and myself, Christopher “Superbus” Bowen. See, Ed’s been clamouring for a shot at me in NHL some time, which quite frankly bores me. I’ve been making Ed my personal plaything in various versions of the game for almost three years now. Finally, he gets his shot at me, and considering his history, he’d better take it. We will be playing a best of seven in the war of each other, and though Ed is inferior to me, his record against other mortals speaks well; he’s a top-2000 player on the NHL 12 leaderboards for the 360. I, on the other hand, am so bored with the NHL series that I don’t even really play anymore. Even rusty, I expect to win this best of seven… if it even goes that long.
The games will feature Ed’s Boston Bruins against my own Vancouver Canucks, in what is a rematch of the 2011 Stanley Cup Finals. Since EA is atrocious at updating their ratings, both teams are still much better in-game than how they showed in this year’s playoffs. Should things improbably go seven games, games 1, 2, 5 and 7 will be “home” games in Vancouver, while 3, 4 and 6 will be in Boston.
We won’t simply be playing to shut Ed up, however. We will also be playing for charity, and throughout the stream we will be asking for donations for the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans, as a part of my birthday wish. With Memorial Day coming on Monday, it’s important to note that one-fifth of the homeless population in any given day consists of veterans, some who might have even served alongside me when I was on the USS George Washington (CVN-73) from 2000 through 2003. Just a small donation can keep a veteran off the streets for at least one day. Please consider helping my shipmates and soldiers while we entertain you tonight.
The festivities start at 9:30PM EST. Enjoy the crowning of my continued dominance!
